Border Network for Human Rights Joins Allies to Celebrate International Women’s Day

Border Network for Human Rights, La Mujer Obrera and Familias Unidas del Chamizal to celebrate International Women’s Day with a strike on March 9th, at 4:30 pm in front of Bowie High School, the strike will be followed by a press conference at 5:00 pm.

BNHR women organizers, staff and members decided to close BNHR offices and to be active participants on the March 9th National Strike. For us, immigrant women in the United States the violence looks like our families being torn apart due to the harsh immigration policies, our kids not feeling welcome in their own home country, us not being able to speak Spanish in public places, or being harassed by employers due to lack of immigration status.

The President often uses his voice and power to demean and degrade women, to objectify them and to abuse them. Violence in all its forms is wrong and it needs to be denounced and resolved.

WHAT: NATIONAL STRIKE “A Day Without Women”

WHEN: Monday March 9th at 4:30 pm
