BNHR to Launch ‘We Vote Because We Care’ Community Voter Registration Campaigns in Texas and New Mexico
A List of Registration Places and Times to be Released During Press Conference

El Paso TX/Southern New Mexico. – On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, BNHR will hold a press conference at 11 am to launch the voter registration portion of our community-centered campaign to promote participation in the fall 2018 elections, ‘We Vote Because We Care’.

Through the ‘We Vote Because We Care’ campaign, by October 9th, BNHR will register upward of 1000 voters in each of Texas and New Mexico. We have already begun registering voters in Texas—as of this advisory, 125 voters have been registered in Texas. Community voter registrars will begin mobilizing in New Mexico next week. This work is supported by UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza-NCLR).

‘We Vote Because We Care’ will mobilize Borderland communities to vote in the November election in defense of core American values of welcoming, inclusion, family, and opportunity for all. Central to the campaign is the idea that ‘a rising vote lifts all voices’ and that, collectively, voting will allow our communities to change the world. Voting is a way of our communities demonstrating that we care—about each other, about our values, about our country, and about our shared futures. We invite all eligible persons to register to vote by the October 9th deadline.

A list of locations and dates/times where BNHR will register voters will be released at the press conference. All offices, businesses, organizations, or events interested in joining our effort to uplift our values and our voices by helping promote voter registration are encouraged to contact BNHR Policy Director Robert Heyman (email: rheyman@bnhr.org or cell: 915-801-7440).
