El Paso/Southern New Mexico – BNHR border families and their local and State of Texas allies organized through the Reform Immigration for Texas Alliance (RITA) have come together to plan a series of events and campaigns for the remainder of 2016 and the first half of 2017.  These concrete activities and steps will be taken to ensure that we overcome the hate, xenophobia, racism, and fear that this election has brought forward.  These plans are our response to an expected two-front assault as the Federal Government works to meet President-Elect Trump’s commitment to round up and deport DACA recipients, visa over-stayers, people with misdemeanors, and millions of others; and, as the State of Texas moves to force local governments to serve this anti-immigrant agenda, by turning local police into immigration agents in their so-called “anti-sanctuary cities” proposals.
