Dear BNHR Funder and Supporter,
2020 was a difficult and complicated year for BNHR and communities at the border. We faced a number of unprecedented crises. We entered a historic and terrible pandemic that forced the organization to restructure the way it works. Many members and families in our community were excluded from any kind of protection due to their immigration status or poverty level; therefore, we carried out strategies to support our members, organizers, staff, and Board of Directors in implementing our work plans under this “new normality.” Even more important, our human rights work at the border, which encompasses our mission to promote and defend human rights and to organize our communities did not stop but expanded. BNHR launched nine campaigns addressing local, state, and national issues. We built new coalitions and alliances, we kept our organized community structure united, and we were able to obtain resources to sustain our struggle. Today, the Border Network is stronger, has more capacity to carry out its mission, and it’s more committed to advance human and civil rights at the border.
Our 2020 Annual Report outlines these accomplishments we share with you here.
On behalf of members, families, organizers, staff, the Board of Directors, we thank you for your commitment to our struggle for dignity and rights. Without you, our work would not have been possible. We look forward to a continued partnership in 2021.
We wish you and your loved ones a Happy Holiday Season!
