Vigil Will Honor The Struggle For Human And Civil Rights In Texas

A vigil planned for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin will mark Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the ongoing struggle for human and civil rights in Texas.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. On Thursday, we will solemnly remember the struggle for all people’s freedom, human and civil rights.

Join us:

Vigil Honoring The Battle of the People for Human Rights at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 East 2nd Street in Austin, Texas 78702 at 7:30 p.m. inside the church sanctuary.

We watched with disappointment as the misguided S-Comm bill SB 9 passed in the Texas Senate last week, which has the potential for serious civil rights violations. If you are in Austin, please join us to let our leaders know we will not be silent when it comes to our commitment to real reform and human dignity.
