Rally for a Clean Dream Act and Against Border Wall

On Saturday, January 13th, at 2:00 p.m., Dreamers and their families, along with local communities and allies, will gather at San Jacinto Plaza (111 W. Mills) to strongly reject the emerging DACA congressional compromises that put in jeopardy family reunification, border communities and the safety and rights of immigrants.

The emergent contours of this flawed and immoral immigration discussion suggest that Senators, from both parties, stand ready to make American immigration law less inclusive, less welcoming, and less respectful of the dignity and rights of immigrants.  Statements from Senators indicate they are ready to undermine immigrant families by denying paths to family unification, restrict the diversity and opportunity of legal immigration to the United States, and fund the construction of an absurd, wasteful, and offensive border wall as part of a larger, and potentially more problematic border security package.  Meanwhile, the President seeks even less humane harsh policies.  We cannot compromise our values.

Border Dreamers Alliance and Border Network for Human Rights will deliver a message asking Congress to pass a Clean DREAM Act.  Any deal that would legalize Dreamers at the expense of the dignity, rights, and futures of their parents, or other immigrants, will not be accepted.  Also Dreamers will ask Congress once more to pass humane immigration reform legalizing all 11 million undocumented Americans already working and living in the United States and to stop separating immigrant families.
