Massive Mobilization on June 30th to Call for Immediate End to Child and Family Detention; Reunification of Separated Families

Local non-profits, legal service providers, and border residents to denounce Trump’s inhuman enforcement approach at “Families Belong Together and Free” March

El Paso TX/Southern New Mexico. – On Saturday, June 30th, Border Network for Human Rights, Women’s March El Paso, Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services, Inc., Hope Border Institute, Annunciation House, and the Borderland Immigration Council will join efforts in a massive mobilization to reject Trump’s ongoing assault on immigrants, asylum seekers, and border communities by dehumanizing children and families and turning them into criminals for following the law and seeking safety.

People will concentrate at 9:00 am at Cleveland Square Park (510 N. Santa Fe Street) and will proceed to the Paso del Norte Port of Entry for a community protest and rally. This mobilization, as well as past mobilizations organized by BNHR, demands a rapid, orderly reunification of children with their and for these families—parents and children alike—to be released from detention immediately.
